Today’s Bloganuary prompt:
What is a life lesson you feel everyone can benefit from learning?
Be curious. There’s usually more to learn. Ask questions, focusing on understanding. “Why?,” as in “Why did you do that?” will often result in defensiveness. “Walk me through how you got to this decision…” invites conversation and an opportunity to learn a person’s thought process.
My team teases me that my favorite thing to say is, “I’m curious…” then I ask a question. It’s true, though, I am curious! 🙂
Could not agree more. As has been said, “The more you know, the more you realize what you don’t know.” Perhaps the greatest gift we can possess is curiosity.
I’ve always admired your spirit of seeking.
Thanks, Michael!
Ted Lasso approves. 👍
Love this!
Try to not judge someone based on first glance. I recently started a conversation with a stranger (my family and friends just love me when I do this – not – ha!). The person I was with judged the person right from the start. I started the convo because the person stated something that got my interest (as well as got my curiosity going to know more). Very interesting person and have run into this person just recently and this person truly changes the vibe of a room for the better. Thanks for sharing and making me think 🙂 Happy Day – Enjoy – Take Care.
I never speak to anyone on the bus if i can help it 🙄 But someone i saw there every day was constantly speaking to someone on her phone. In Greek. I started a conversation and that eventually led to her becoming one of our very best friends. (No, i only know a few words of Greek.)
What a great story!
I start a lot of conversations with strangers as well. It can lead to great friendships! 🙂
