And just like that, everything changed.
“Who picked this place?”
“I did, Mom.”
“Did you look at other places?”
“I did.” (honestly not prepared for what might come next)
“You couldn’t have picked a better place for me. I’m so happy here.”
I stared at her, not sure quite how to react.
I finally said, “I’m so glad that you’re happy here.”
And we sat in silence, looking at the mountains.
